The National Police Data Coalition (NPDC) is a non-profit that is establishing the first nationally integrated, independent repository of police data.  Our goal is to create transparency, enable accountability and unite advocates, policymakers and agencies in making our communities safer.

Community Driven Data

Over the past several years, relationships between communities and police have continued to deteriorate and we have seen a notable increase in broadly publicized police incidents that have resulted in tragic outcomes.  

In order to ensure fairness and accountability in police interactions, records are needed that provide information on any history or prior incidents that may be relevant. 

While some communities have started gathering this data, there is no standardized way to aggregate and share this information within or across localities.

By creating the first, national repository of police data, we aim to make these facts accessible to advocates who strive to make their communities safer and to police systems that need more transparency in making their hiring decisions. 

Our Plan

Police data can be used to engage with communities and build trust between law enforcement and the public. Despite the opinion of some pundits, police data can be a positive tool to encourage further engagement and collaboration between law enforcement and the community.
